Kawasaki Launches Z250SL For Indonesia

By Ajinkya

Honda has dominated the single cylinder 250cc segment from the day it was launched. It faced competition from other manufacturers however, they all had two cylinders. Thus, they could not be considered as competition. Now Kawasaki has launched it's single cylinder 250cc naked bike called the Z250SL.

Every motorcycle manufacturer wants to jump into the 250cc segment as they can sell volumes of their vehicle while still asking for a premium price. Specially in the developing countries these bikes are an instant hit.

Kawasaki launched their Z250SL in Indonesia, it is a naked street bike and borrows design cues from its older sibling from the Z range. The bike looks premium and being a single cylinder costs will be significantly lower than the twin cylinder engine.

The engine is the same that is present in Kawasaki's Ninja RR mono. A single-cylinder 250cc liquid cooled engine, which will produce 23 Nm of peak torque along with 27.6 bhp. The 250cc engine will be coupled with a 6-speed transmission. It will also sport fuel injection rather than a carburettor. As a safety option the bike will have an option of ABS.

We believe Kawasaki should bring the Z250SL to India as soon as they can as it would definitely appeal to both buyers of full fairing as well as naked bikes. In India currently it will be threatened by Honda's CBR250R and KTM's Duke 200.

Kawasaki has priced the Z250SL non ABS version in Indonesia for 38.9 million Indonesian Rupiah, which when converted comes upto INR 2.03 lakhs. While the ABS variant will be a tad more expensive at 44.9 million Indonesian Rupiah, which is roughly INR 2.34 lakhs.

We would like if Kawasaki would offer the Z250SL in India it would definitely eat into the market share of its competitors considerably. Let us know in the comments below if you would like to see the Z250SL in India soon?
