Indian Motorcycles Launched In India By Polaris

Indian Motorcycle, is owned by Polaris Industries Inc. and is America's first motorcycle company. It was founded in 1901 and has won the hearts of motorcyclists around the world and earned distinction as America's legendary and iconic brands through unmatched racing and engineering prowess matched with countless innovations and industry firsts.

After a long time, now finally the Indian Motorcycles have entered India. The American company has bought along Chief range to India. Their range includes the Indian Chief Classic, Indian Chief Vintage and Indian Chieftain.

The motorcycle will have a classic look, true heritage matched with modern technology, the launch has excited the biking fraternity in India. The Chief range of bikes will be powered by a Thunder Stroke 111 engine. It will churn out 139 Nm of torque at 2600 rpm. The motorcycles will be sold through the completely built up route.

The Thunder Stroke 111 engine will feature 111 cubic inch displacement. It will deliver raw power and iconic styling that have been a trademark of the Indian Motorcycle brand.

The 49-degree V-Twin engine is new to the Indian Motorcycle and marks the first clean-sheet Indian Motorcycle engine design in seven decades. The bike has parallel pushrod tubes, finned heads, down firing exhausts, left side air intake, and the proportions and layout familiar to Indian motorcycle fans around the world, the Thunder Stroke 111 will thrill both experienced as well as new riders.

Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd. stated,"This launch holds great importance for us. We launched the marquee bikes in the US early last year and were appreciated immensely for reviving history. The Chief line enthralled the bikers and created an aura for itself within few days of the launch."

He further added, "Reviving the legend with a new heart but its same soul, Polaris India has ended the long wait for Indian Motorcycle enthusiasts with this launch. We are now giving enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of history in a modern package."

In April, Polaris acquired Indian Motorcycle and in August 2013, a new range of Indian motorcycles was unveiled.

The company has committed time, resources and passion into the design of the all new engine. The goal was to not let go of the iconic design and styling of the 113-year old brand's most historic models and merge their heritage with state of the art technology and progressive design elements. The new design portrays history of Indian Motorcycle powertrain development.
