India Bike Week 2014-Highlight Of India’s Largest Motorcycle Festival
For a majority of Indians two wheelers are the primary mode of transport, which makes it one of the largest motorcycle markets in the world. Yet, riding for pleasure is a culture that's not yet significantly developed. But things are changing fast and the change is here to see.
At the recently concluded second edition of India Bike Week that was held off the Vagator beach in Goa some eight thousand motorcycle enthusiasts thronged the venue. The two day event, held on Jan 17 and 18 was a massive hit and a huge improvement over last year, both in terms of number of participants, events held and programs organised.

Without having to say, the main major attraction were the Harley Davidson motorcycles. Over 1000 Harley owners registered this year according to the organizers. The event started off with a seemingly never ending H.O.Gs (Harley Owners Group) rally as they entered the venue.

Besides the Harleys, superbikes and exotic touring motorcycles parked inside the venue were also a sight to behold.

Biker Build Off, an essential part of IBW, saw more participants this time over with custom bikes ranging from choppers to bobbers to cafe racers, all aiming for the title.

Another major attraction this year were the dozens of custom and vintage bikes that were showcased. Most custom bikes were based off Royal Enfields, with a few based on Harley Davidsons. Some notable vintage bikes included names such as Indian and Norton.

Non motorcycle events lined up for the entertainment of crowds included, a martial arts championship and live music by various bands including Amsterdam based Dub Vision and The Vinyl Records among others.

Motorcycle owners also got the opportunity to show off their rides by taking part in various competitions. One such contest measured which motorcycle was the loudest, while a dyno stall provided the opportunity to find which bikes were the most powerful.

The fun seemed neverending as visitors were given a rare treat by MRF's FMMX riders, Callum Shaw and Luke Smith.

All the fun and games apart one of the best parts of IBW was the expert discussion sessions which say several eminent personalities from across the world taking part in them. Not only were the panel discussions extremely interesting but they also gave the attendees a once in a lifetime opportunity to interact with renowned personalities and provided listeners wealth of knowledge.

Even as this year's edition of India Bike Week came to a close there was discussion about where the next edition would be held and it looks like Jaipur is going to be a likely candidate.
