Honda Set To invest INR 1,100 Cr In New Two-Wheeler Facility
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has a strong foothold in India. They offer a strong product portfolio for Indian customers. The Japanese automobile giant is a leader in scooter segment of India, no other manufacturer has come close to their dominance.
The demand for Honda vehicles is extremely high and naturally there is a long waiting period for vehicles. To cope with the current demand they will be investing INR 1,100 crore in a new facility in Gujarat.
HMSI will be building its new facility at Vithalpur in Mandal taluka of Gujarat. The new facility will provide job opportunities to roughly 2,000 individuals. Gujarat is an excellent place for the Japanese manufacturer to set up shop as it is turning into an auto hub.
The Prime Minister of India and former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi had earlier announced a campaign of ‘Make in India'. This philosophy will increase jobs and more manufacturing facilities in India.
Currently the Japanese manufacturer offers a wide range of motorcycles and scooter in India. Honda have dominated the market with their Activa, Aviator, Dio, Activa 125 and Activa i. They also offer motorcycles like the CBR 150R, CBR 250R, CB Trigger, CB Unicorn, Stunner, Twister and the Neo commuter series.
Honda had earlier showcased interesting concepts and future models for India, which included both scooters as well as motorcycles. Everyone's attention is on the refreshed CBR 300R, which is expected to launch in India by year-end or early next year. They also showcased their CBR 650F, however, this motorcycle will not be available prior to 2016.
