Ducati Unveils Its Testastretta DVT Engine For Upcoming Models
Italian two wheeler manufacture Ducati is always searching new components to spice up their motorcycles. Their engineers are always innovating new technologies that will make riding a more pleasant and safer experience.
Ducati has this time developed an engine with variable timing for both intake and exhaust camshafts. The Italian marque has christened their new system as Ducati Testastretta DVT. The Desmodromic Variable Timing system is sole machine that has variable timing for both inlet and outlet.
The Italian engineers have developed its Ducati Testastretta DVT for a 1,198 cc engine. It will be capable of producing 160 horsepower, along with a maximum torque output of 136 Nm. Ducati will also provide their mill with an Anti-Knock sensor, Dual Spark ignition and will be a Euro 4 compliant engine.
In layman's term the new Ducati system will optimise the performance of the engine, no matter what rev range it sits in. It will also provide acceleration in a smooth and easy to use manner. The system will provide superior acceleration and power without compromising on fuel efficiency.
The Italian manufacturer will also provide its new system with a secondary air system, which is currently used on extremely high performance engines. This system will help Ducati motorcycles to optimise combustion without increasing emission. It will do so by completing the oxidation of unburned hydrocarbons to reduce HC and CO levels.
