Vespa Scooters Over The Years On Its 67th Birthday

In two days time, on April 26th, 2013 Vespa will mark its 67th anniversary. It was on 26th April, 1946 that the company's founder Enrico Piaggio filed his patent for a different breed of motorcycle model at the Italian Central Patents Office. It was birth of the iconic Vespa.

The patent application described the Vespa as "a motor cycle with a rational complex of organs and elements with body combined with the mudguards and bonnet covering all the mechanical parts". This was the original Vespa MP6 prototype, which was designed by Corradino D'Ascanio and draftsman Mario D'Este. Below are images of all Vespa models starting from 1946 till the present day.
