Triumph Motorcycles To Arrive By September?
Triumph's plans to enter India looked very clear cut when it first showcased several of its models at the Delhi Auto Show in 2012, when the company had seemingly even decided the prices for the local market. But after an year and a half we have only had rumors about the British bike maker.
An earlier rumor suggested that the company would begin local assembly in Narsapura, Bangalore (the same place where Honda recently opened a manufacturing plant), with operations set to begin in 2015. The latest one brings the date a lot closer to September 2013.
Further fueling these reports is a statement from a Triumph spokesperson given to LiveMint, which states, "We will shortly be holding a full press briefing on our planned activity in India, and would prefer to hold off on any communication until that time. We will be in touch as soon as the firm plans for this briefing have been made."
New reports suggest that Triumph Motorcycles will rely on a facility in Manesar, Gurgaon until its Narsapura facility is ready to begin operation in 2015. Furthermore, there are reports suggesting that Triumph will produce locally a different capacity model that would be sold in India as well as in other markets.
Triumph Motorcycles which will be offered in India upon commencement of operations include, Triumph Street Triple 675, Bonneville, Daytona 675 and Speed Triple, Tiger 800XC, Rocket III and Storm.
