Terra A4000i Electric Scooter With iPhone
Terra Motors is a new two wheeler manufacturer from Japan which seeks to change the poor image of electric scooters. Towards this end the company has revealed a new electric scooter model, the A4000i. Terra A4000i also happens to be the world's first smartphone equipped electric scooter.
In particular, the A4000i comes with an iPhone in place of its instrument cluster. It is set to be sold for ¥450,000 or $4,528 or INR 2.71 lakhs. Interestingly, Terra Motors does have India listed in its website, along with Philippines and Vietnam.

Terra A4000i is currently designed to fit an iPhone 3GS or later, but in the future support for other smartphones will be added. Besides displaying the usual data such as speed, range, battery charge status etc, the smartphone will also be used to collect data of all sorts, such as location, mileage, battery performance and more. All this information will be collected by the manufacturer over months and will be used to provide better user service as days go by.

The battery is a 48V Li-ion unit that has a life of 50,000 kms and can be charged in 4.5 hours. Range is 65 kms.

Terra Motors promises high performance and reliability, unlike the "Cheap but insufficient product quality and service" given by Chinese electric scooters. The focus is on Asian markets and the company hopes to sell 100,000 units by end of 2015. However, for a premium price of nearly INR 3 lakhs we are not sure if this product is suitable for India.
