Royal Enfield To Introduce Cafe Racer & 250cc Bike

Royal Enfield, the premium Indian cruiser bike manufacturer will introduce a new Cafe Racer styled motorcycle later in 2013, CarTrade has learned from sources. Besides that, the company is also planning on entering the quarter liter market with its first ever 250cc motorcycle.

The Royal Enfield Cafe Racer, according to the report, will be powered by a 535cc UCE engine. The new bike will be the company's top of the line model offering more horsepower and torque compared to its existing line up. The bike will also sport a new exhaust system, larger injectors, high end cam shafts, besides being one of the lightest model ever to come out of the Enfield production line. Naturally, due to its Cafe Racer body type the company will use a different frame as well as suspension system.

Price for the upcoming Cafe Racer is expected to be around 2 lakhs.

Besides the Cafe Racer model the company is also said to be considering a 250cc motorcycle model, given the high demand this particular segment has witnessed in recent years. At present the quarter liter bike segment in India is jam packed with several models, most of which are from international brands, including Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM etc,. besides the Indian brands.

If and when Royal Enfield comes out with its 250cc motorcycle it will go head to head with models such as the 220 cc Bajaj Avenger DTS-i, besides sports bikes like Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja. Enfield's strength, however, will be competitive pricing, owing to local production, and its heritage.
