Piaggio Cuts Vespa Price Again By Rs.7,000
Piaggio has announced a huge price cut of its premium lifestyle scooter- Vespa LX 125. This is the second time the Vespa's price has been cut in recent months. The Vespa LX 125's price has been cut by an incredible Rs.7,000. The Vespa will now be available with a price tag of Rs.59,990 (ex showroom, Pune).
Piaggio's decision to reduce the price of the premium scooter is not to attract buyers in the competitive scooter segment. The company has stated that recent developments in production aided by increased localization has reduced cost of production and the benefits are being passed on to customers.
Piaggio has recently increased production capacity at its plant in Pithampur. The increased volumes have also helped in reducing costs. Piaggio has already sold more than 25,000 units of the Vespa in India since its launch in early 2012.
The Vespa LX 125 has been able to attract buyers despite its hefty price tag thanks to its classic yet peppy looks and powerful performance aided by its 125cc scooter. Its sleek design makes the scooter very light. The 124cc engine generates a peak power of 10.8bhp at 10,500rpm. The combination of low weight and high power helps the Vespa LX 125 deliver exhilarating performance.
Piaggio is selling the Vespa scooter in six exciting colours. It is equipped with single sided trailing arm suspension that is used extensively in air crafts. The Vespa is also the only scooter sold in India built on a monocoque chassis. With the reduced price, the Vespa is bound to pose some serious competition to other 125cc scooters such as the Suzuki Access and Swish.
