Mahindra Mojo Set To Be Launched Next Fiscal

Mahindra 2 Wheelers which launched two new motorcycles on Saturday will add another motorcycle to its range next fiscal, according to a senior company official. The new motorcycle will be the 300cc Mojo sports bike.

There have been several stories about the Mahindra Mojo's launch since the past one year. In fact many had expected Mahindra to launch the Mojo during last year's Delhi Auto Expo. But Mahindra continued to say the Mojo was only a concept vehicle.

The official confirmation of the Mahindra Mojo's launch was given by Anoop Mathur, the president of two-wheeler sector and member of the group executive board, Mahindra & Mahindra. He said: "We are going through testing protocols right now for the engine. We are hopeful of its launch in the next fiscal.

Mahindra is conducting extensive testing of the Mojo's engine and other components. We can say the company is being extra cautious about its motorcycles following the bad press it got for its first motorcycle, the Stallio. The Stallio was withdrawn from the market within months of its launch after users found several technical glitches.

The company which recently opened its own research and development centre has already developed two new motorcycles completely in house. The two bikes are the Pantero and Centuro which will hit showrooms in the coming days across the country.

Mahindra 2 Wheelers is also planning to expand its scooter line-up in the coming months. The company is planning to launch a new variant of its Rodeo 125cc scooter. Mr. Mathur added that a new scooter will be launched during the third quarter of the next fiscal year. The timing of the launch will coincide with the festive season.

Mahindra is planning to increase its foot print on the global two wheeler market too. Mr. Mathur has stated that the company was looking at exporting its two recently motorcycles Pantero and Centuro as early as March 2013.
