Mahindra Centuro Launched; Price Of Rs 45,000
Mahindra Centuro, launched today for a price of Rs 45,000, can be referred to as the most advanced commuter bike in India. The first 10,000 units will also be sold for an introductory price of Rs 44,000 and the bike comes with a 5 year warranty. The Centuro will compete against other bikes from its segment, which include Honda Dream Yuga, Honda Splendor, Bajaj Discover and Hero Splendor, but it offers a few features that is not found on any of its competitors.
Before we speak about the said features, a word or two about the engine. The Centuro is powered by Mahindra's in-house developed MCi-5 (Micro Chip ignited 5 curve), 106 cc, single cylinder, air cooled engine that delivers 8.5 HP at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 8.5 Nm starting at 5,500 rpm. More importantly, Mahindra Centuro's MCi5 engine delivers an impressive mileage of 85.4 kmpl under standard conditions.

Mahindra Centuro is the first commuter bike to come with Anti-theft alarm. Working along with the 96 bit encrypted remote key, it immobilises the engine if anyone tries to get away with it.

Centuro is also the only bike in India that comes with remote flip key. Something that is usually found only in cars. The remote key even has a tiny torch to help you in locating the key slot in the dark.

"Find Me Lamps" are meant to help you in locating your Centuro in a crowded parking space or a in the dark.

Guide lamps, on the other hand, will let you park your vehicle in the dark, with the engine turned off.

The instrument console has been made useful with the addition of features such as ‘Distance to Empty' indicator and service due indicator. The cluster even includes a tachometer, usually found in larger bikes, and digital speedo.

The golden ribs up front though, are only meant to give the bike a rugged style and serve no functional purpose.

Other regular features include, drum brakes, measuring 130 mm, in the front and rear.

Hydraulic, Coiled spring 5-step adjustable suspensions, tyres measuring 2.75''x 18'' in the front and 3.0'' x 18'' at the rear and ‘Constant Mesh' 4 Speed gearbox.

Lastly,the bike weighs 111 Kg when dry and 120 Kg with the 12.7 liters fuel tank 90 percent full.
