Kubo Electric Cargo Scooter From Lit Motors Hits Kickstarter
Lit Motors, a company based in San Francisco, California has built an electric scooter with an unique take. Called the Kubo, its makers describe it as a pickup truck on two wheels. While that's not a perfect description what the Kubo is, is an electric cargo scooter.

Lit Motors is not new to the world of quirky products. Their previous product was a fully enclosed electric two wheeler that could balance itself and would not tip over. With Kubo they are tackling a new different problem, that of carrying substantial cargo in your personal electric scooter. To fund its production Kubo is now on Kickstarter. Let's take a look.

The Kubo's distinctive feature is the 22 inch square cargo space with rubber mat and hooks to secure whatever you might want to carry.

Lit Motors say the Kubo is capable of carrying 136 kg of load, not considering the rider. That's more than enough for a weekend trip to the grocery store.

Besides the large cargo space there's even a lockable compartment to keep small articles such as a phone.

Powering the Kubo is a 3 kW high torque rear hub motor with regenerative braking that can propel it up to a sufficient 72.42 km/h top speed.

While nothing's mentioned about the battery rating, it has a claimed range of 80.46 km per charge.

A thoughtful additional feature is an on-board electric outlet to charge your electronics, but this would also bring down the Kubo's range.

The Kubo even features height adjustable seat that can be adjusted to seat riders from 5 feet to 6.5 feet. Besides the seat the suspension can be adjusted as well.

Other mentionable features which are part of the package include integrated digital speedometer, odometer, and battery indicator LED headlight and taillight.

The Kubo from Lit Motors is an intelligently designed creative product that makes for a perfect personal cargo carrier while keeping things clean, thanks to its electric motor.
Lit Motors has put up the Kubo on Kickstarter to gather crowd funding, with a goal of $300,000. Anyone interested in the product can pledge for it in the Kickstarter page.
