KTM Enduro 350(?), The Duke Based Off-Roader Spotted

KTM, post it's alliance with Bajaj Auto, has never been in a better position than it is right now. The small displacement Duke range - the 125, 200 & 390 - has performed marvelously for the Austrian manufacturer, both in India and Europe, catapulting it to the number one position in Europe.

What this has proven is the growing buyer inclination towards small displacement performance bikes in traditional motorcycle markets where previously only large bikes sold well. At the same time, markets like India are maturing at a steady rate, warming up to small displacement performance bikes, which are considered premium products here.

KTM exploited the current market scenario well by concentrating on street bikes. And now that its in calm waters it's time for KTM to take a look back at its roots, which is off-road motorcycles, but on the same lines as the Dukes. And you know what that means.

It's been known for a long time now that KTM has had a supermoto/enduro model planned that's based on the Duke 390. Recently, a KTMForum.eu member came across a camoed model that perfectly fits the bill (ssen above).

The unique swingarm, the wheels, the mirrors & the instrument cluster prove it beyond doubt that what we are seeing is a KTM model. The single disc at the front means this is a small displacement model, which further points towards the long rumored Enduro 350.

What you notice in the image is the standard exhaust, in place of the Duke's underslung unit. However, this could change considering it's a test mule. The raised exhaust can could also be retained considering the bike will be an off roader/semi-off roader requiring more ground clearance.

If KTM is indeed planning to launch the bike, we could see a reveal take place at the 2014 EICMA, followed by a launch in 2015.
