KTM's 'E-Speed' Electric Scooter Concept In Tokyo
If the KTM Freeride E was the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer's solution for an emission free dirt bike, then the E-Speed is the extension of the same idea towards urban mobility. The E-Speed electric scooter was unveiled by KTM at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show.
Like the Freeride E, KTM's second electric two wheeler, the E-Speed is emission and noise free, running on the same powertrain and battery as the Freeride. Inspite of being a scooter for urban mobility the E-Speed has been designed to look and ride like a sporty two wheeler, sporting an unconventional look.

KTM Freeride E Concept
KTM's"Zero Emission Offroad Sportmotorcycle" concept is the company's first electric two wheeler, delivering29.5 HP of power and 30.9 ft-lb of torque.

The KTM E-Speed electric scooter concept is powered by a lithium ion battery that uses the same technology as the Freeride E. However, at 4.36 kWh, it is slightly less powerful. The battery can be charged up completely in two hours. Some of the energy is also recovered through regenerative braking.

According to KTM, the E-Speed's motor delivers 11kW of power and a peak torque of 36Nm, which is available right from the start.

At 309 pounds the scooter is as heavy as most bikes and has a top speed of 85 kph or 53 mph. The battery gives it an average range of 40 miles

Some other notable features include the hybrid steel trellis frame, WP suspension elements and the aluminium battery casing that also acts as a load bearing element, supporting the frame.
