KTM 390 Duke Price Hike Comes Into Effect

By Ganesh

When KTM launched the 390 Duke back in June it took India by surprise, of the pleasant kind. Priced at just INR 1.8 lakhs (ex-showroom) the 390 Duke offered incredible value for money.

Considering it offered better performance than almost all its rivals and even motorcycles from higher segments, the 390 Duke was the bargain of the year.

However, KTM did tell the price of INR 1.8 lakhs was an introductory offer and that in the coming months that price tag would be replaced with a higher one. That time has now come.

KTM 390 Duke now costs INR 1.86 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Pune). That's an increase of Rs 6,000. KTM has managed to surprise us all yet again. An increase in price of less than Rs 10,000 is almost negligible and would not bother most buyers. And so the 390 Duke continues to be a steal.

The 373.2cc, 43.5 PS power and 35 Nm torque engined motorcycle is easily the best product one can buy in this price range in India. Currently available in Orange-White colour scheme, a Black-Orange colour is likely to be made available in India starting next year. The latter is already on offer in Europe.

KTM will expand its lineup beyond the 200 Duke and 390 Duke in 2014. The RC200 & RC390 will be the first faired sport bikes from KTM in India, followed by the Adventure range of motorcycles. These will make use of smaller displacement engines and is likely to brought forth in 2015. The 690 Duke is another model that will appear in 2015.
