Indian Motorcycles India Launch 'Coming Soon'
Indian Motorcycles, USA's oldest motorcycle manufacturing company and at one time, the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer, is headed to India. On its website's country/region selection page India is marked as ‘coming soon', besides China, New Zealand, Middle East and Brazil.
Indian has also released a teaser image of a 2014 model, an Indian Chief, which is set to debut in all existing markets as well as the upcoming ones. The 2014 Chief, along with the rest of the 2014 lineup will be powered by the company's newly developed Thunderstroke 111 cubic inches (1819cc) V-twin engine, with 155 Nm of torque! The new engine was showcased at the Daytona Bike Week in the USA earlier this year.
Despite its rich heritage and once strong presence Indian Motorcycles started decaying post WWII and went bankrupt in 1953. While various companies since then tried to revive the brand, it was only after the acquisition by Polaris in 2011 that Indian gained back some of its life. With a firm backing by new parent company Polaris and new models under the belt, Indian motorcycles is set to make a strong comeback.
