Honda Planning To Launch New 150cc Bike
Honda's decision to launch a new 150cc motorcycle in India has been triggered by the growing segment as well as the relative under performance of its current 150cc models - the Unicorn and Dazzler. Despite impressive performance and decent mileage, both the Unicorn and Dazzler have failed to be chart busters in the 150cc segment.
So, Honda is preparing itself to launch a new motorcycle in the coming months. The new 150cc bike will not be replacing any of the existing bikes. While developing a brand new bike will be a time consuming process, Honda is rumoured to be looking at its existing crop of motorcycles from its international models.
The most suitable model that can be considered by Honda will be the Verza 150. The Verza 150 has been launched in Indonesia. It 150cc engine is mated to a five speed gearbox. Most importantly, the Verza gets twin spark plugs. Reports say the Indian version will have to make do with a carburettor.
Some of the other technical information about the Verza 150 are as follows. The 150cc engine can churn out maximum power of 13.2PS and maximum torque of 12.7Nm.
The Verza's price in India should be under the Unicorn or Dazzler. This will clearly pose a challenge to the existing line-up of 150cc motorcycles from Honda's competitors. The Bajaj Pulsar 150 is one of the most popular bike in the segment. Some of the other bikes that can be considered as the possible rivals of the upcoming Honda 150cc motorcycle are the Hero Hunk and Yamaha FZ16.
