Hero MotorCorp Enters Africa And South America

Hero MotorCorps has started acting on its planned expansion outside of India. The world's largest two wheeler manufacturer in terms of volume has started the process of introducing its popular two wheeler models in Central and South America and in Africa. The company plans to sell a million bikes outside of India in the next 5 years.

"We have started despatches to our new international markets in Central and Latin Americaand Africa. Our first consignments of two-wheelers have already been shipped to Peru in Latin America, ElSalvador, Guatemala and Honduras in Central Americaand to Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast in Africa. We shall also be despatching the first lot of our two-wheelers toKenya too later this month," Pawan Munjal, MD & CEO, Hero MotoCorp Ltd. has told ET.

The models that will be introduced in overseas markets will belong to the 100cc-125cc segment. The lineup does not include any new model, but the same models that are offered in India. The countries that will initially get Hero MotorCorp models are Peru, Latin America, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras in Central America and Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast in Africa. Eventually, Hero plans to expand to 30 new countries across these areas.
