Hero MotoCorp To Enter The U.S.A Via EBR
In a bid to extend their reach globally Indian two wheeler manufacturers, including Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj have, in recent year, expanded their market beyond Indian shores.
Hero MotoCorp in particular, has set up shop in several neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and has also crossed oceans to establish their brand in South American countries. What is to be noted that these overseas markets have one thing in common to India. Consumers here prefer low displacement commuter bikes, just like we do.

Now figure this. Hero MotoCorp's next destination is the United States of America. The U.S, in stark contrast to markets such as India, entertains only large displacement motorcycles. The best selling Harley Davidson bikes, for example, are those with displacements over 1000cc. Liter class sportbikes and large tourers rule the roost here. Inexpensive, low powered bikes and scooters are a rarity.
So, you can only, at this point, wonder as to what models Hero intends to sell in the U.S. There is still time though - two years to be precise and a lot can happen in that time. Hero's new American partner EBR (Hero holds almost half of EBR) will be the one doing the selling, through its very limited, but budding distribution network. Hero could step into the picture, by helping EBR expand its network across that country.
The development is a curious one and we are eagerly awaiting any further information.
