Hero MotoCorp To Begin US & Canadian Operations From 2014

By Ganesh

What Erik Buell Racing announced during the American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) in Orlando, Florida through a press release has been once again confirmed. This time by Pawan Munjal, MD and CEO of Hero MotoCorp. The Indian two wheeler manufacturer will begin start selling its products in the United States and Canada from early 2014.

Hero MotoCorp gave Americans an idea of what to expect at the AIMExpo in October where it displayed several of its updated models including Karizma ZMR, Hunk, HF Deluxe Eco, Splendor Pro and even Pleasure automatic scooter.

However, the exact lineup of two wheelers that will appear in showrooms across North America in the coming months has not been determined yet.

Taking care of Hero's operations in North America will be Erik Buell racing, a company that's not very well represented itself in its home country.

North America has been traditionally dominated by high displacement bikes, which is a stark contrast to where Hero's strength lies. And that's small, but economical bikes. Munjal, however, believes there will be demand for bikes between 100cc and 250cc when products are offered.

Hero MotoCorp already sells in several international markets, including in South America and Africa, that are similar to India. Munjal's aim is to have a presence in 50 countries by 2020.
