Erik Buell Racing 1190RX Reveal At AIMExpo On Oct 16

By Ganesh

Erik Buell racing has announced that it will unveil its brand new sports bike - 1190RX - at the AIMExpo next month. The liter class bike will be a toned down version of EBR's 1190RS high-end race spec machine, which competes in the AMA Championship.

The EBR 1190RS, with its lightweight and race oriented construction, is very expensive to own for most. The 1190RX will be almost on par with the race bike in terms of performance, but could be made relatively more affordable by subtracting a few features such as the carbon fiber fairings and aluminium wheels.

EBR 1190RX is still expected to retain the RS's trademark features, which include the fuel tank that is integrated in the frame of the bike and the single large disc at the front that is placed outside the wheel.

As for the engine, the new bike will most definitely come with the same 1190cc, liquid cooled V-twin Rotax unit from the 1190RS. The racer has a claimed power output of 175 HP at 9750 rpm and 97 ft-lb peak torque at 9400 rpm.
