2014 Yamaha Bolt - 'Back To Basics' Bike
The 2014 model year Yamaha Bolt is the Japanese automaker's fresh take on the classic chopper design. The manufacturer believes that the chopper styled cruiser bike design is not as popular as it used to be 5 to 6 years back and the demand is for a cleaner, simpler, "back-to-basics" bike.
Yamaha's new cruiser, the Bolt has no flashy chrome parts and wide fenders, but instead opts for a minimalistic, yet comfortable design that has everything to do with riding pleasure. Then there is the price tag, which makes it a lot more affordable than a high end cruiser from Harley. Check out the gallery for further details and images.

Engine and Transmission
The Bolt uses a 942 cc, air cooled 4-stroke, V-Twin, SOHC, 4-valve unit that sits on a double-cradle steel frame. Power is transferred using a 5-speed multiplate wet clutch transmission.

Seating
The rider gets a low seating position, with a seat height of 27.2 inches and a wheelbase that measures 61.8 inches. This gives the Bolt a Bobber look, along with some contemporary elements.

Suspension
The Bolt uses a telescopic fork, with 4.7 inch of travel at the front and dual shocks at the rear, with 2.8 inches of travel

Wheels and Tyres
No alloy here. Instead, twelve spoke lightweight, black aluminium wheels adorn the front and rear, shod with 100/90-19 front and 15/80-16 rear tyres.

Brakes
The Bolt uses wave type discs both on the front and rear, measuring 298mm each.

Diemension
Bolt measures 90.2 inches long, 37.2 inches wide and 44.1 inches high. The Bolt's low slung design means it as a ground clearance of just 5.1 inches.

Price
2014 Yamaha Bolt has an MSRP of $7990, the Bolt R-Spec costs $8290.
