Mick Doohan MotoGp Legend To Ride Phillip Island

Mick Doohan the five-tme 500cc World Champion will be back on motorcycle and will blaze down the Phillip Island circuit during the grand prix weekend. The legendary australian who raced for Honda will ride a Repsol Honda RC213V MotoGp machine.

Are you a Mick Doohan fan? Do you remember the epic battles between Alex Criville and Mick Doohan? The Australian was considered as one of the finest riders on a two stroke machine. Doohan mananged to win five World Championships from 1994-1998. A total of 54 of his 500cc victories were won on Honda grand prix machines.

The Phillip Island Grand prix weekend will also stage host to Casey Stoner who will be attempting his sixth consecutive win at this circuit. The reigning world champion will retire from MotoGP at the end of the 2012 season.

Its been more than a decade since Mick Doohan has been out on a competitive motorcycle. However, Doohan for sure at the back of his mind remembers that, during his last outing at the Phillip Island in 1998 he emerged victorious.

Mick Doohan commented on this development. He said, "The last time I rode a Grand Prix bike at all was in the mid-2000s in Japan so it's been a long while, and I'm really looking forward to it," he said. "The fans and the riders always enjoy getting down to the Island, so hopefully this year with Casey's retirement announcement, it's going to be a big event. It'll be good to play a little part in that, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone down there."
