Hyosung Plans To Launch GV 650 Cruiser In India
Hyosung and its new Indian partner DSK are working on ambitious plans for their operations in India. DSK Hyosung which recently unveiled the new GT 250 R Sports bike is planning to add another new bike to its lineup. According to reports, the new Hyosung bike in India will be the GV 650 Cruiser.
The GV 650 Cruiser was first launched way back in 2004. It is powered by a liquid cooled 650cc V twin engine capable of churning out 79bhp of power and 68Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six speed gear box which transfers the power to the wheels through a belt drive.
The belt drive in this bike is very much similar to the ones found in the Harley Davidson bikes. Belt drives are considered more durable and problem free when compared to chains and are hence used extensively in powerful cruise bikes.
The Hyosung GV 650 Cruiser as the name suggest is built to enjoy a comfortable ride on long journeys. It has a Oil upside down fork front suspension and a swinging arm rear suspension. The motorcycle has enormous amounts of power and hence its braking power needs to be big too. Hyosung has equipped the GV 650 Cruiser with twin disk brakes on the front wheel and a single 230mm disk on the rear wheel.
Hyosung currently sells the ST7 cruise bike in India. The market for such motorcycles is growing steadily with the likes of Triumph and Harley Davidson seeing improved sales. Hyosung wants to use this opportunity to increase its presence in India. And why not, if Indian bike riders can get a bigger choice of cruise bikes, then so be it.
