Hero Splendor Back On Top, Beats Discover

Overall sales for Here MotoCorp stood at more than five lakh units in October, followed by Bajaj Auto which saw its sales at 2.62 lakh bikes. The third spot is occupied by Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India which sold 2.36 lakh units in October.
Hero MotoCorp has stated its sales during the financial year starting April 2012 was greater than the combined sales of its two competitors. The company has sold a total of 3.41 million units out of which 1.41 million units is accounted by the Splendor. Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India has sold 1.52 million units followed by Bajaj Auto which has sold 1.48 million units.
Speaking about Hero's sales performance in October, senior vice-president, marketing & sales Anil Dua has said: "Our 15-day sales figures post the shraddh period (which ended on October 15) are more than the full-month figures of most two-wheeler makers in the country."
We can say Hero is finally back on an upswing after the sales boost in October. After seeing its market share dip to 42.7% during the April-September period from last year's figure 45.3%. The market share is expected to improve much further according to analysts. But they are cautious enough to say it will be difficult for Hero to get back to two third's of the market share that Hero held a few years ago.
Bajaj Auto is not too worried about the Splendor's resurgence in October. The company has stated that the Discover's sales have increased considerably in the past one year and will continue to do so in the coming months too. Bajaj Auto's president for the motorcycle business has said the Discover would go upward and the Splendor will have to leave its top spot soon.
