Suzuki India To Set Up Rs 2000 Cr Plant In Haryana

The proposal by Suzuki India to build a manufacturing unit in the state was approved by the Haryana government in meeting presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and attended by state Industries Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala and Managing Director of Maruti Suzuki S Nakanishi and other Suzuki officials. Suzuki's other motorcycle manufacturing unit is at Kherki Dhaula, Gurgaon.
With this move, the motorcycle major is intending to boost the output capacity of its two-wheelers to a whooping figure of 2 Mn units by the end of the year 2019, thereby proving that this is a long term project for the company. Meanwhile, the company expects the pant to be functional by 2014.
The company said that the 50 acre unit will provide employment to 4,000 people and generate indirect employment opportunities for thousands more in the nearby region in terms of vendor manpower, logistics providers and service industries. Haryana has become a motorcycle manufacturing hub with Hero MoroCorp Honda and Harley Davidson already having facilities there.
Currently, the company sells its 150 cc bike – GS150 and the much appreciated Access 125 scooter in India.
