Bajaj planning 100cc Boxer At A Lower Price

The major issue with the Boxer 150 was its engine delivering a less than impressive mileage particularly on rough, slow rural roads. With sales not reaching expected levels, Bajaj appears to have gone back to the Boxer's roots by planning to have a 100cc version. indiancarsbikes.in has reported the sighting of a 100cc Boxer being tested outside Bajaj Auto's plant.
The 100cc Boxer will be an ideal solution for Bajaj. It will be a low cost bike and can be powered by a 100cc engine that is already available. The production cost will be low and this can be transferred to the buyers too. If the 100cc Boxer does become a market reality, then we expect it to be priced under Rs.40,000.
The BM150 as the new Boxer is called offers a mileage of 40kmpl. Such a mileage has evidently kept buyers away. The 100cc version could offer a mileage that is well above 50kmpl making it a highly desirable utility bike considering its starting price. Even if this 100cc Boxer does not enter the Indian Market, it could well be on its way to international markets in Africa and South America.
