Pune Fire Brigade Gets Royal Enfield Electra Power

The Pune Fire Brigade has now purchased six Royal Enfield Electra 350s to be used as mini fire engines. The fire brigade has modified the Electra to suit its requirements. Four slots for special tanks containing water and compressed air-foam have been added to the rear. Other important fire fighting equipment present in this Royal Enfield fire engine are a first aid box, gel blankets for fire victims and safety nets.
The Royal Enfield fire engine will be able to quickly reach some of Pune's areas that have narrow lanes are are inaccessible to large fire engines. The Pune Fire brigade also believes these bikes can reach accident spots faster as they are more nimble in traffic conditions.
The royal Enfield Electra is powered by a 350cc four stroke engine that generates 20bhp and and 28 Nm of torque. Such power will suit the fire brigades needs as it will have to carry two fire fighting personnel along with equipment.
These modified Bullet fire fighter costs Rs.7 lakhs and will soon be seen in other Indian cities too. We applaud the efforts of the Pune Fire Brigade for taking up a positive step towards safety and also Royal Enfield which has been the classic Indian bike for more than five decades.
