Honda's New Plant Will Reduce Waiting Period

The Activa scooter is one of its most popular models. It has a waiting period as long as three months in some parts of the country. It is a similar story for the Shine and CB Twister motorcycles that are famous for their smooth and efficient engines. Honda's plant in Manesar was struggling to deliver the goods in the face of ever increasing demand making Honda to begin work on a new production plant in Tapukara.
Honda inaugurated production at the second assembly line in the Tapukara plant on February 14th by having a line-off ceremony. The new plant is flexible enough to build scooters and motorcycles on the same production line. The new line adds 6 lakh units to the annual production capacity of the plant. Honda will be building the Activa scooter, Shine and CB Twister in this plant.
The waiting period for the Activa is more than three months in some places. It is a similar story for the Shine and the CB Twister motorcycles. Both these models are popular for their smooth and efficient engines. The Activa has been India's best selling scooter since its launch in 2000 and it recently received an update in the form of a new 110cc engine as well as some visual changes.
The opening of the second production line in Tapukara has doubled the plants total production capacity to 1.2 million units. HMSI is also constructing its third new plant in Bangalore with a production capacity of 1.2 million units. The company is aiming to have a total production capacity of 4 million units by the end of 2013. This will definitely help Honda's customers get their vehicles sooner than earlier.
