Bajaj Might Stop Building the Pulsar 180 DTSi

Bajaj Pulsar 180
Is the pace at which the Pulsar brand is growing forcing Bajaj Auto to take some uncomfortable decisions? Some reports say yes. The uncomfortable decision we are talking about is about Bajaj planning to ax the Pulsar 180 DTSi.

We all know that Bajaj has developed two distinct brands of motorcycles in the Pulsar and the Discover. The Pulsar is now available with several variants starting from the 135. It is followed by the 150, 180 and the 220. With the Pulsar 200 NS waiting in line to be launched soon, the Pulsar family will be bigger than ever.

But not for long. There are speculations that the Pulsar 180 DTSi is on its last legs. The Pulsar 150 has been the best selling Pulsar followed by the Pulsar 135. Many people prefer to opt for the 220 rather than the 180. Reports say Bajaj might prefer to retain the 220 after the launch of the 200NS but not the 180 DTSi.

Bajaj Auto had earlier stated that it would be revamping its Pulsar family with new styling and power options. This started with the launch 200 NS. While some might say the 200NS is an entirely different bike when compared to the 180 or the 220, the most likely victim will be the 180 DTSi.

There are doubts about the continuation of the Pulsar 220 too. But its immediate future appears to secure as it is not in direct competition with the 200NS. So the final Pulsar family is likely to consist the following motorcycles – The Pulsar 135LS, Pulsar 150, Pulsar 200NS and the Pulsar 220 DTSi
