Triumph Planning To Build 125cc Bike For India
The fast growing automobile markets such as India are attracting niche motorcycle manufacturers such as Harley Davidson and Triumph. The companies more famous for building huge, heavy and powerful cruise bikes are now considering building smaller bikes that cater to the needs of Indian buyers.
Latest reports on Triumph Motorcycles indicate that the British firm is planning to develop a 125cc motorcycle aimed at developing markets such as India. This bike is still in its conceptual phase and might take about two years to be ready.
Triumph's new plans indicate it wants a share in the high selling volume bike sector. The company is yet to have a sizable market share even in the premium bike segment. However by having a 125cc motorcycle, Triumph will definitely make a mark for itself.
Triumph has said the 125cc motorcycle is a means a creating a foot hold for itself in a country like India. Its sales in developed markets such as Europe and America have hit a plateau and the only means of pushing sales is to have a bigger presence in growing markets.
According to reports, triumph's 125cc motorcycle will be built in India. The company has spoken to its suppliers in this regard and product development could begin soon. The bike can also be exported from India to other countries.
Triumph Motorcycles which launched its India operations in January this year currently imports its bikes from Thailand. It is building a new manufacturing plant near Bangalore in Karnataka and will build four models in its line-up.
