Hyosung Planning RT250D Off-Road Bike Launch

Hyosung already builds an off-road bike named the RT125D which is powered by a 125cc single cylinder engine. The RT250D might be powered by a larger version of the same engine. The bike is expected to be imported as a CKD and will be assembled at Garware-Hyosung's plant in Maharashtra.
Garware-Hyosung has plans to increase its line-up of models from the current three. The Hyosung RT250D will be an ideal bike to start the process. Hyosung has to be careful while pricing the off road bike as the segment above 200cc is getting new models after the arrival of the KTM Duke 200 and the imminent arrival of the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS.
The dual purpose bike segment is still in a very nascent stage in India. The Indian bike rider was introduced to off road bikes by the Hero Impulse. The Impulse has not received wide success. It remains to be seen if such bikes can have an impact on the market. The Hyosung RT250D's arrival in India can lead to other manufacturers also launching similar bikes.
There are speculations about Honda also launching its off road bike – the CRF250L in 2013. The Impulse will end up as the cheapest off road bike in India as the Honda bike is expected to be priced above Rs1.2 lakhs. The Hyosung RT250D can also be priced within the same range.
