Bajaj Planning to Launch 350cc Pulsar and KTM Bike

Rajiv Bajaj who heads Bajaj Auto while speaking about the company's plans for new products spoke about Bajaj's relationship with Austrian bike maker KTM. Bajaj and KTM have jointly developed the KTM Duke 200 as well as the new Pulsar 200NS. Mr Bajaj explained: “We share the same development process with KTM, so you can expect there will be 'a much bigger Pulsar' next year, because we think the market is at an inflection point and we are in a good position to take advantage with these two brands."
The new Pulsar 350 might be launched as soon as next year along with a similarly powered KTM. Bajaj would want to have moth the brands in the premium sports bike segment with the pulsar in the lower end of the price scale. The KTM Duke 200's price in India is Rs.1.16 lakhs while the new Pulsar 200NS is expected to be priced below Rs.1 lakh. You can expect a similar pricing strategy for the upcoming Bajaj and KTM motorcycles too.
Indicating intentions to move further up the power range, Mr Bajaj also said the company was also considering bigger engines for their bikes up to the range of 700cc. This is the first time an Indian bike manufacturer has openly posed a challenge to international manufacturers who have som far dominated the premium sports bike segment.
The new Pulsar 200NS and the KTM Duke 200 will be competing against bikes such as the Yamaha R15, Honda CBR 250R, CBR 150R etc. The 350cc versions of the Pulsar and KTM will co-exist with the existing range of bikes.
