TVS Posts Impressive First Quarter Results

TVS Motor has posted a 46 per cent rise in net profit for the first quarter ending June 30, 2011. The two wheel manufacturer's net sales for the quarter increased 25 per cent to Rs.1,707 crore. TVS Motor has also announced a dividend of 60 paise per share after the increase in profits.

TVS' two wheeler sales increased 16.3 per cent in the first quarter of this fiscal year to 5.35 lakh units. Motorcycle sales rose 10.3 per cent to 2.24 lakh units and scooter sales saw a hike of 25.3 per cent to 1.19 lakh units. Three wheeler sales also posted an impressive growth of 52.4 per cent to 12,167 units.

TVS Motor continued to impress with regard to exports. The company's exports rose 36.4 per cent to 0.78 lakh units. TVS Motor's Indonesian arm reported sales of 7,035 units in Q1. It also exported 2,503 units. It also launched a 150cc motorcycle called the Tormax which has been received well.
