There has been an unexpected fall-81%- in production of Stallio from Mahindra and Mahindra during the last three months making a sale of 139 units in the last month.

In the particular month the sale stood at 46 units (from 256 units in December 2010) due to the snags in the manufacturing. In December 2010, M&M produced 716 units of Stallio, said SIAM. The fall in production came to the light once the defects in the products came to the fore. During January this year, the company"s production of 110-cc entry level bike has come down to 421 units which again fell to 139 units in February. In the meantime, M&M acknowledged the defect and came forward to rectify by communicating to the customers often.

The defective parts have been identified and fine tuning and adjustment will be made in proper manner, said its website. The website further indicated that the company has been making all out efforts to secure the brand image of customer centric nature. M&M drove into the motorcycle segment with an eye on more margins, and in September last launched two models Stallio and Mojo under 300 cc premium. The company pressed the stardom of Aamir Khan for the sale promotion of Stallio.
