Honda Motorcycle Production To Be Boosted By 2013

Honda's motorcycle production will be boosted by the opening of a third factory according to an announcement made by the company. The new Honda factory will be situated near Bengaluru and will have a production capacity of 1.2 million units when it becomes operational by 2013. Honda also said that by March 2013, it would double capacity at the second plant currently under construction in Rajasthan, to 1.2 million units.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) in a statement said that it intended to increase its production capacity for motor bikes in India to four million units by the first half of 2013. Honda's motorcycle production capacity currently stands at 1.6 million units.

Honda Motor Co., the Japanese two-wheeler company and the world's biggest motorcycle manufacturer set up a wholly owned subsidiary HMSI after it exited its joint venture with Hero Motors. The Hero Honda joint venture was formed 26 years ago and has been very successful. India has been benefited by the high levels of technology introduced by Honda in motorcycle production.
