E-scooter Market To Get Two Models From Hi-Bird

The fast growing electric two wheeler segment is getting a new face in Hi-Bird which is set to launch two models in scooter. The company is popular in bicycles for quite a long time and the move is to promote go-green concept in India. The company is in the fore with its reputation as the ISO certified, the biggest exporter of same quality of bicycles in the domestic market. The company has good niche in the markets of the US and Europe. The company devises its design to suit the needs of various markets by incorporating the technology of Europe, Japan and Africa.

The company makes initiatives to protect the environment from pollution resulting from carbon emission. The scooter will carry the futuristic model electric motor in the rear wheel by which there will be power from lithium-ion batteries. The rider can get the maximum speed of 100kph while the maximum range of 70kph got after a charge per 5-6 hours, said the company"s Chairman. There is an on-board charging by which the household electric plug point can be used for charging. The scooter is designed to be noise free, smoke free, petrol free, registration free, license free and minimum running cost. The cc is that of a mother and a child, he said further.

More than anything else, he said, the company has taken the task of introducing Battery Operated e-scooters at an affordable price - Rs27000 and Rs28000 -meeting the budget of the Indian middle class segment. The scooter is ideal for the youth, working women, senior citizens and professionals, he said. The company is pinning on the hope of reaching more buyers following the incentives announced by the Indian government in its budget for electric vehicles. Already the government in Delhi and Chandigarh have been granting 20% subsidy for electric vehicles in addition to the 15% rebate offered by the central government. In the electric two wheeler segment, Hero Electric dominates with 30%share byway of 80000 units of sale volume a year. The conditions have made TVS also to get back to the electric vehicle business as the company has announced its electric scooter for 2012.
