Honda Will Have New Employees Soon!

This new facility will be upgraded to yield 12 lakh units a year and will take the toll of employees to 3000. Already the company has invested Rs300 crore for the first phase of production in this facility and the whole lot of investment would account for Rs1000 crore in the second phase. By then the net volume will go to 12 lakh units a year. The company"s net investment in India for its operations as of now has crossed Rs1300 crore, he said.
There is a plant at Manesar in Haryana with the capacity of 16 lakh annual units and 7000 employees along with contract laborers. The CEO is to depart soon to take up his assignment in the parent body and he said the major task before him at the Indian operations had been resolving the labor issues. He said the work will not be affected due to the labor unrest and the company will go on operating without any hitch.
There had been instance of labor unrest among the contract laborers in December last leading to two day strike and manhandling of staff. Earlier in 2009 the company had to suffer a loss of Rs300 crore due to the strike by its employees which effected a reduction of production by 50% for three months. Prior to that in 2005 there had been vigorous strike by the employees in its Gurgaon plant. As the company has departed from the JV in Hero Honda, it said it is triggering its fuel to dethrone Hero Honda from the top slot in two wheeler market in India in another ten years. For t his the company is aiming to reach the semi-urban areas and rural pockets with the launch of a new 100 cc bike in 2012.
