By By: Vicky.in

The ongoing popularity and growth of electric version of vehicles has made Hero Electric to come out with its electric bikes for export markets. The countries earmarked for this purpose, according to the company, are mainly in Europe and the electric motorcycle will be on display in Switzerland this month. The CEO of Hero Electric said depending upon the response to this display the company would make necessary actions.

Hero Electric has specifically designed the electric bikes for Europe with the blend of local as well as Taiwanese technologies. He said the electric bikes are to be manufactured in India for export to Europe and will not be sold in the domestic markets. The expected volume of production is 200-250 units per shift and is not in a hurry to feed the local demand. However, the formal launch of electric bike in Europe will take place after a year and negotiations are on with the native distributors.

In the meantime , the Hero electric company is aiming for securing the homologation to meet the local norms and specifications. The European market needs high power and graded bikes to meet the road conditions there. He said the initial demand might be around 500 annual units. Same is the case for the local market due to several factors like where the growth has been on the basis of footfalls. There have been increased enquiries for the product during the bygone months. He said the fuel prices are not likely to increase following the political crisis in Egypt recently. The e-biking market in India has the potential of 85000 annual units dominated by Hero electric, Ajanta Group and Electrotherm.
