First Woman To Buy Harley Davidson In India

Harley Davidson's first woman buyer in India has emerged from Bangalore. Sheeja Mathews who works as an HR at a MNC has received delivery of a Harley Davidson Iron 863 on Monday. She had placed an order for the American superbike in February. Ms Mathews said although there were several other superbikes available in India, she considered Harley Davidson as the ultimate superbike and always dreamt of owning one.

Sheeja said she would not have considered buying the Iron 863 had Harley Davidson not opened its showroom in India. Harley Davidson is an American bike manufacturer that entered the Indian market last year with a product portfolio of 15 models costing between Rs.5.5 lakhs to 38.66 lakhs. The company currently has showrooms at Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Sheeja Matthews has always been a bike enthusiast and has been riding bikes since she was 15 years old. She intends to use the Harley Davidson Iron 863 once a week to travel to work and take it on long weekend cruises. She believes there will be many more women riders of Harley Davidson in Bangalore.

Harley Davidson India already has an owners club in Bangalore and Sheeja intends to join it soon. This owners' group frequently organises road trips to various locations such as Ooty and Sheeja intends to join them.

Harley Davidson is renowned for its highly customisable superbikes. With a heritage of more than a century, the bike manufacturer has been churning out superbikes that have been a great success globally. All Harley Davidson bikes are currently are being imported as completely built units.
