“Forty-Eight” From Harley-Davidson For Rs 8.5L

By By: Vicky.in

A 1200 premium super bike from the US motorcycle company Harley Davidson is to be on the Indian roads at the price of Rs8.5 lakhs. The nationwide dealers of Harley Davidson will sell this bike along with the existing models of 14 and the bookings for this Forty Eight will be from this month. Harley Davidson has kept away from rising the prices of two of its models though it was in a force to do so due to the rise in import duty on CKD products. This has made the company to explore the possibilities of going in for a facility in its assembly unit in Haryana. Under the CKD category Harley Davidson has launched two models namely Iron 883 and SuperLow with the price of Rs6.50 lakh and Rs5.5 lakh respectively.

The remaining 12 models under its platform are in the price of Rs7.79 lakh - Rs38.66 lakhs. The assembling plant, started in November last, will commence its production from this year and this happens to be the company"s second facility outside its apex, after the one in Brazil. Harley Davidson entered into India in 2007 based on the relaxed norms on big bikes of more than 800 cc in exchange of mangoes for sale in the US. Till then the company has been selling its products as imported units.
