Eicher Motor Gets 50 Acre Land From TN Government

Eicher Motor
Eicher Motor, the owner of the Royal Enfield two wheeler brand, has been allotted 50 acres of land at the Oragadam SIPCOT Industrial Park near Chennai. The Tamil Nadu Government said the land was allotted to Eicher for its proposed expansion plans.

Tamil Nadu chief Minister J Jayalalitha presented a letter allotting the land to Eicher Motor managing director Siddarth Lal today. Eicher Motor was planning to invest Rs.350 crores to expand its production from 50,000 units per annum to 1,50,000 units. The company was looking for a suitable plot and the Tamil Nadu Government has provided it the same.

Eicher was previously considering to set up its plant in another state. However Tamil Nadu's offer seems to have made the company to change its decision. The new Eicher plant will create employment for 900 people.

The land allotment to Eicher Motor clearly indicates the commitment of Tamil Nadu government to turn the state into a global auto hub. Eicher Motor already has a plant in Chennai where it manufactures the Royal Enfield motorcycles.
