Ducati Hopes to Double India Sales

Italian bike manufacturer Ducati is aiming to double its sales in India. Ducati recently opened its showroom in Bengaluru. Mirko Bordiga, chief executive for Asia Pacific, while speaking at this event stated the company wanted to sell about 200 vehicles this year after selling 100 superbikes last year.

Mt Bordiga also said the demand for premium superbikes in India was increasing and Ducati was responding to this demand. He said: “We see high demand in the Indian market. With new motorcycle makers entering India, the market is bound to grow."

Ducati is one of the several global bike manufacturers to have launched superbikes in India. Harley-Davidson, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha have already ventured into premium bike market in India. Increasing demand for premium vehicles has lead to manufacturers increasing their presence in India. Triumph,. The British motorcycle manufacturer has officially announced its plans to launch its vehicles in India.

While Harley-Davidson has set up a manufacturing facility in India to reduce costs, Ducati has said it does not have an immediate plan to build its superbikes in India. Ducati started selling its bikes in India in 2008 and currently its entire range of 15 motorcycles are available here. The 1098R and Diavel are some models that are significant.
