Bajaj Auto Takes A Sudden Turn!

By By: Vicky.in

After undergoing a tremendous deed in the motorcycle segment in the Indian market, Bajaj Auto is contemplating to revive its stint in scooter segment. This was hinted by its chairman who propelled that the segment might fetch 20 percent of the market share with a reasonably good EBITA. He left the choice to the consent of his son adding that the company might, in the event, deliver scooters in another two years with the monthly target of 20000 units.

The EBITA, as he foresaw, would come around 15-20 percent at annual computation. The scooter segment from Bajaj has been in abeyance for the last two decades when its once peak brands Chetak and Super dipped to all time low volumes, barely in hundreds. The reasons were the arrival of more stylish and economical motorcycles with better mileage, which forced Bajaj to wind up its scooter production in 2007. Bajaj"s gearless scooter Crystal had been in the market till 2009 but at that time Bajaj did not specify its intention to withdraw scooters from its portfolio once for all. As of now, the company intends to be the top most in motorcycle and the addition of scooters and three wheelers will be for extending the product range, said an executive from the company.
