Yamaha To Increase Motorcycle Production

India Yamaha Motor National Business Head Roy Kurian is quoted to have said:p "We are targeting to increase our production and sales as we are witnessing very good demand for our products. We target to increase the capacity to 10 lakh units per annum from 6 lakh units at present." Yamaha has a motorcycle manufacturing plant in Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh.
Yamaha which manufactures motorcycles such as the Fazer, FZ, Crux and the R15 is keen to expand its market share. It is now looking at launching its own range of scooters in India. The scooter range could be unveiled at the forthcoming Delhi Auto Expo.
Yamaha which is currently selling just under 4 lakh motorcycles in India wants to more than double its sales to 10 lakh units in India by 2014. Yamaha India also exports several of its models. Yamaha now wants to increase domestic sales and has begun to expand its showroom from the current 1,200. It is now planning to increase the number to 2,000 to 2,500 by 2014.
The Japanese two wheeler manufacturer has emerged as a top selling brand in cities with its sporty model line up which includes the Fazer, FZ, R15 and FZS.
