Mahindra Yamaha Join Hands In New Joint Venture

Mahindra which entered the two wheeler business after it bought Kinetic Honda does not have the required technology to build top notch two wheelers. The joint venture will allow Mahindra to get access to Yamaha's technology. Mahindra has had lukewarm success in the sector and this joint venture is expected to iron out its flaws.
Yamaha on the other hand has been successful in building a unique brand name for itself. However it is looking at Mahindra's extensive dealer network to expand its presence in the country. Mahindra will be owning 51% in the joint venture and Yamaha will own a 41% stake. The remaining part will be owned by a third investor.
This news will mean we can see at least some new and original motorcycles and scooters from Mahindra which is now selling the Duro, Rodeo and Flyte scooters and the Stallio Motorcycle. Yamaha is also expected to launch its own scooters in India and this joint venture could be used to do it.
