Yamaha Set To Launch Scooters in Delhi Auto Expo

Yamaha Motor India will now be launching scooters that will be competing against the Honda Activa and the Suzuki Access. Yamaha already sells several scooters across the globe but is yet to manufacture them here in India. It has been successful in building a brand name for itself and is now looking confident enough to venture in to a new segment.
The scooter segment is now dominated by the Honda Activa. The other successful scooters in India are the TVS Scooty, Suzuki Access and the Honda Dio. Yamaha is hoping its scooters will help it increase its market share in India. Two wheeler sales in India have shown signs of slowing down and companies are looking at ways to maintain growth.
We expect to see Yamaha's first Indian scooters at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Yamaha has chosen the venue for its launch of scooters wisely as the event is the only premier auto show in the country. This is a shocker considering India's is possibly the fastest growing car market I the world and is the second largest market for two wheelers.
The Yamaha scooters that we expect to see in the Delhi Auto Expo are the 125cc Vity, Cygnus X, 50cc Neo and JogR. Yamaha also builds more powerful scooters but we do not expect them to be here in India soon. Yamaha's decision to launch its scooters in India comes at the same time when Piaggio is also looking at a relaunch in India.
