How Safe Is It To Drive With Bluetooth Earphones?

Bluetooth headset for twowheeler
Mobile phone usage while driving is a common offense that several drivers commit in our country. Traffic police are always on the look out to catch people who use their phones while driving. While car drivers find it easy to escape from police as they are not completely seen, it is the two wheeler drivers who are mostly caught by the police.

Development of new technologies and the easy and affordable availability means technology is used widely with both positive and negative results. One such technology is Bluetooth headsets now available for mobile phones. The Bluetooth headset will allow drivers to keep their hands on the steering or motorcycle handle and still continue talking on their phone.

This facility has clearly attracted two wheeler drivers to buy Bluetooth headsets. But how safe is using this tool especially when driving through busy city traffic? A recent study the US has stated that people will be as much distracted while speaking on a Bluetooth headset while driving as much as they are distracted while taking a call directly on their phones.

Further the usage of a Bluetooth headset will mean they have blocked sound from at least one direction of the road. This is quite dangerous considering the fact that we Indians have this habbit of overtaking from both sides of the vehicle. So you will not really be able to tell if some one from your left or your right.

Music lovers also need to be aware of the fact that listening to music while driving is not a safe practice. Avoid listening to music while driving in city traffic. You need to be alert and all your senses need to be active if you have to finish a safe drive.

Bluetooth headsets might be cool to have, easy to use and convenient too. But when it comes to the safety factor, especially when driving a two wheeler, it is ideal that you avoid using it. If you are someone who frequently rides a bike and also need to take calls, it is a safe bet to bring your vehicle to a halt and then speak. No matter what, safety comes first!
