Two Wheeler Sales Remain Ahead Of Car Sales

The Society of India Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) in its sales report for November has staed that two wheeler sales in November grew at 23 per cent when compared to November 2010. Car sales on the other hand managed a growth of 7 per cent.
According to the data provided by SIAM, 869,070 motorcycles were sold in November 2011 from 708,476 sold in the same month last year. Total two wheeler sales stood at 1,163,294 units marking a 25.27 per cent growth from 928,660 units sold in November 2010. As far as car sales during November, SIAM has stated that sales stood at 171,131 units from 159,939.
SIAM also provided data on commercial vehicle sales. This auto sector reported a 34.99 per cent growth after selling 66,264 vehicles in November 2011. On the whole vehicle sales in India during last month stood at 1,489,714 units marking a 22.22 per cent growth.
Car sales which had previously seen a huge growth in 2010 has witnessed slowdown in the past few months after buyers decided to opt for two wheelers instead of cars due to the spiraling petrol costs and bank interest rates.
